How to Improve Your Facebook Posts

Facebook has been around for over a decade now and for most social media marketers, it’s often the first social media platform that marketers gain experience from using to attract customers and get branded content out to their audience.

However, it’s this very fact that Facebook has been around for so long that many marketers’ Facebook strategies grow stale and cease to generate new leads or interest in their company. Thus, this week we’re going to take a look at some of the ways we can rejuvenate your Facebook posting strategy.

Firstly, while you may have done this when you first started your Facebook marketing, devise a plan or road map made up of various different topics that fall under your industry’s purview. For example, if you are in the kitchen remodeling business, develop a content roadmap that contains how-to guides, home remodeling tips, and answers to FAQ. Once you’ve selected the topics you want to write about, create a calendar and follow it accordingly.

However, when creating content for Facebook, keep in mind that its users are not usually on the site to read lengthy articles. Therefore, it is wise to keep your text short and to the point, with the first three or four words serving to grab your audience’s attention.

On Facebook, video by far and away makes for the most-viewed posts, with links, images, and text updates lagging behind. However, just because video is considered by many to be an important engagement driver, you need to decide what form of content is right for your business and what your business goals are. For example, if you want to drive traffic to your site, than a link would be the best bet.

One simple but effective hack you can do is, when posting a link, do not simply accept the metadata that Facebook pulls from the source page, but rather edit the auto-generated description with the most pertinent description. Keep in mind that since Facebook posts are searchable, it makes sense to put your keywords in these bespoke descriptions.

Finally, as with all social media platforms, the time of the day and week that you post is very important in terms of maximizing views and user engagement. While it’s widely held that Thursday and Friday are the best days to post on Facebook, look at which posts of yours have done the best on the social media platform and start scheduling your future posts accordingly.

While there is always more that you can be doing to get the most out of Facebook, if you haven’t taken a close look at your Facebook campaign recently, you might want to do so with the above suggestions in mind.
